Stories of Me
I saw the reports as well.
I understand the Kingston lady's plight. But I also know other ppl in similar situations that have relocated to the better market on North Coast. I don't know her particular circumstances but the world is becoming a scarier place daily. You have to learn to adapt. She has to realise that she is in business and these things happen and she has to change her strategy.
I agree with offices being around the island. Here's the catch. If they set up other offices, they will raise the interest charges on loans in order to generate revenue to keep afloat. What they can do is actually have better customer service agents who will actually listen to what you say and make sure they pass on the correct information to you so that you don't go on a fishing expedition coming into town and then having to return due to missing documents.
I went through the SLB fiasco before and it was the same foolishness. I have done the last day thing and the early submission because I was not dealing with the crowds again. It annoys me that so many wait till the last minute and then act surprised that there is confusion. Are the staff paid enough to deal with those types of days? HELL NO!!! I have seen the SLB make efforts to improve their services and getting info out earlier. I received campus e-mails about SLB deadlines every few weeks and I don't go through them anymore. So I'm assuming that others got the reminders too. I've seen the flyers over by UTECH, so at least persons from those two institutions should not have been in the crowd.
This is Jamaica and if you don't ask the right questions you don't get vital info. So I know that can be a problem for newbies. Veterans need to get their act together so that they can get out of the way and ease the pressure on the system.
They used to allow submissions at some banks. That's what I did and early too cause I hate crowds. If that option is available, then use it.
There are many broken systems in Jamaica and they are highlighted for the usual 9 days and then no one remembers them till they break again. Then we do the usual complaining. Everyone believes someone should fix it. I want to be one of the fixers. I suggest things when I have a plan. My brother wrote the Transport minister suggesting that they get big buses and use those for major routes and let the small buses run the routes that big buses can't make, and do the night routes when big buses park. I don't know if his letter made it to them, but 3 years later that was the system that was implemented. Noone contacted him. He didn't care as long as the system improved.
Those of us who can figure something out should bombard them with the suggestions till they do something about it. Even when the rush is off. It can't hurt and will help
Selah!!
