I am SO GLAD you got this. I was watching Real Time with Bill Maher the other day and he showed these two pictures. And I came online last night trying to find them but I couldn't. Racism in plain sight.
At first I was resistant to the theory that New Orleans was not being helped quickly because it was majority back err... African American. I have since lowered my head for I can come up with no explanation why:
1. A first world country did not prepare better (this was no earthquake)
2. A country that one day after the tsunamis sent troops and aid took 4 days to send relief
3. A country with 50 other states is having such a hard time finding help, so much so that outiders (even those that a notary public called to be assassinated) are pledging aid.
4. Even when help reached it is uncoordinated and many volunteers are sitting in the water, wasting gas, doing nothing but trying not to get in other volunteer's 'teritory'
5. A country that 'liberated' another country can't save one state.
6. At least one republican is 'quite happy' about the response to the disaster by federal government.
I'm confused they did know it was a caegory 4 hurricane when it was on it's way, right?
All valid points. If I was Chavez I would a shout it out seh me a offer dem help every damn day!!!
Wife Bush said that it's a bunch of under-privelidged ppl so its a blessing in disguise...... My mother is trying to explain to me that what she meant was that had this disaster not happened they would have continued to slip through the cracks. Now that they are in the public eye much more can be done to assist them.......
