543/5 without the assistance and skill of the 7 best WI players. Hmmmmm! I'm confused!? What was the squabble about again?
Chanderpaul's only mistake was declaring when he could have batted until kingdom come. When last Windies see a score like that without the greeeeeeaaaaat BRIAN LARA? They said it was impossible. How could this Windies team do anything of worth without the fantastic Lara and his skilled henchmen? I say, go Windies. Even if you do crap after this, we know that you are very capable.
The same S.A. that we could barely get any runs off in the recent past were only happy to be given a chance to bat. I hope we continue on this trend for this series at least and then we can introduce Gayle and Sarwan who have lit their candle, sang their sankey and are feeling their way back home. I have nothing against the players other than their notion that they are the best and so they must act like primadonas. No place for so many egos, when we as a region performing like crap. Becoming beaten stick for all English divisional teams!? Don't mek me cuss inside dis ya place!!!!!
Gwaan tru my Windies!!!! See di big man dem ya!!
P.S. Not that I am a fan of the West Indies cricket board. They are a set of clowns. They know nothing about forward planning and they perpetuated the conditions which led to the impasse. The general West Indian public has been questioning their reasoning in selections for years. It followed no clear pattern other than 'Lara all the way'. When they were supposed to rough up players for not performing, they didn't. And now they want to pass the buck and blame the players for the state of West Indies cricket.
The West Indies players association is doing what they are paid to do. They aren't realistic in asking for fat salaries for players who aren't performing. But then when they were working with an inept board that swallowed all the crap presented to them it was no wonder they thought they could continue to get away with murder.
They all need to look at what happens in South Africa, Australia, Pakistan........ Non-performing players lose their captaincy. Selection is not automatic because of past accomplishments but because of consistency and proven track records. That is what we know and love and remember about West Indies cricket. Consistency on the field. Losing was always a surprise and a rarety, not a surety.
More time!
