Time for the evaluation of my life

A hurricane is on its way. Dennis by name. Time will tell if he'll be a menace as the rhyme goes. I was at work until 11:20pm. My shift ended 10:15pm and I didn't have to be there today at all. I was the only one who turned up. I worked hard and made some new allies so I should find myself in a better position on the ward from now on. That's good!!

I'm tired and each day gets longer and longer. Exams are closing in like a serengetti predator. I'm no graceful gazelle. Our daily presentations are becoming billed events. "In this corner the challenger....Haydennnnn Hamillllll!" Except consultants throw 10 buton combos, while I'm still 8bit ing it Punch out. To be expected?!

Haven't had time to blog and so I been putting up thinking stuff unoriginal albeit. Not the fare I wanted to serve but to satisfy the need to post per week.

I love the new Batman Berry Fusion. I don't know what there is about it. It's addictive.

A cocaine addict came to the hospital. He wanted to be admitted to the Detox programme. We couldn't admit him until he brought in a family member with him. ..... OK.... Policy must have reason behind it. He says he hasn't slept mor than 8 times in the past year. I figure since we can die from lack of sleep that he must mean proper night's rest. Anyway, he was diaphoretic even in the A/C and reported that he had scored some coke that AM. He had a wrist dislocation that was weeks old but he hadn't bothered to get it looked at because he was busy getting high. He snapped it back in but then it slipped out again; freaking out the doctor seeing him. Yet when it was time to take a shot in the arse...gluteus maximus, he gave so much trouble. He was afraid of the needle! Go figure.

So I've learned to setup the ECG and generate a printout and how to read them. I do well with venepuncture, but can't set up IVs. Same damn venepuncture!!! except now I gotta leave a tube in (canullating the vein) Why can't I get it to work. Funny enough it worked fine when I was in 3rd year especially at KPH where I had 6-10 to do on duty night cause everybody gave me theirs to do.

I keep feweling like a fraud as I am introduced as Dr. Hamil each time to all the patients. I'm no DR.!! I can't say I don't know jack any more cause actually I do know something now. But I'm still not close enough to being safe.

Pharmacology, Anatomy have come back to haunt me. Suturing seems to be a strong point with me. Yaaaaaa!!! Don't do well with the kids. They too frail, yet they so strong.

I'm not prepared mentally for this storm.

So much reading to be done and I want to sleep. Another presentation to prepare. I wonder if I'll have to go to work tomorrow for 3pm? More than likely I'll have to go for Friday. All those possible emergencies and the absence of water, that'll make it all right.
