All night long

My neighbours who live behind me on the not so legal piece of land, have erected another stone structure, using funds they earned from Friday and Saturday night dances held up inna mi head corner, often feeling like it deh inna mi room. By careful sleuthing (eaves-dropping) I ascertained that it was in preparation for the release of Jah Cure! I thought certainly we are a very friendly set of people in Jamaica, extending our hospitality to all manner of people for profit or otherwise, but .... Jah Cure ..... jus causin seh im deh a prisin an a mek good music?! Dat neva mek no sense!

Some months later when he was once again denied parole, they were despondent and held another series of dances to bun-down babylon system that would deny their innocent 'rass-rapist' cousin from (his rightful incarceration) inside babylon prison. Forget the fact that he is being accorded so much lee-way to make his music and make videos (featuring correctional officers mind you) and that he is played on the radio (excepting Irie FM... Thank you IRIE FM!!) and that he has his money waiting on him because our ledgislature won't allow for reparations to victims especially since he is popular because of the better man themes of his songs despite his open reticence. In light of all the things in his favour, his family continues to believe that he is being unfairly handled.

So yesterday we held a session that started at 3pm and ended at 7:30am (I say we because it sounded as if they had set-up their equipment in my bedroom) I was not only hearing every word and every note, but also the pooping that was occurring in the studio at the time of recording!

My neighbour happens to be one of the dons over there still left standing ( number of them have been killed by police and internal power struggles). He runs the guns and deals with the justice aspect of living over there. When his father was alive we could reasonably co-exist, now when I complain he listens, nods his head, makes the required amount of noise about the injustice being meted out to me, but does whatever he feels like. His mother is a first cousin to our former Prime Minister. They hail from Mobay.

It is becoming easier to be dis-enchanted with Jamaica with all the lawlessness that occurs, without any hope of correcting the situation (The distributors of Napalm have asked that we not burn people with it). Vigilantiism will probably land me a desk job in the Commissioner's office like DSP. Adams..... a de-commissioning, if you will!

Jamaicans can be very inconsiderate at times. Especially those people who put on dances in neighbourhoods.

It's not enough that other 'artistes' have found the victim's yard and tried to buy her out - but she is tormented with his voice evry where. Being allowed to record while serving time. What the RASS!!

Anyhowy - since u enjoy ur life and August is very close - may I suggest earplugs.
